The Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden World Series following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, guiding the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, Canada," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."

Springer has now slugged 23 playoff homers, ranking him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd prefer in that spot except for Springer with his October magic," noted Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he continued.

Toronto secured the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
