Dyche is the main candidate to become the next Forest manager, after the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, and the Premier League club aim to conclude a agreement on Monday. Postecoglou was sacked shortly after Forest's loss by Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. Forest sit 18th in the standings after just one win in eight league games, during what has been a season of upheaval. Dyche has had productive negotiations over the past day, and insiders familiar with the hiring process have revealed his prospects of getting the job have improved substantially over the weekend. Other Candidates Explored Roberto Mancini has also had talks with Forest officials, while Fulham manager Marco Silva is highly regarded but tied down. There is also a substantial release clause in Silva's contract that has emerged as a factor, given Forest have previously spent on sacking Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo this term. Whether Silva would be prepared to leave Fulham during the campaign is also believed to be an obstacle. Insiders are indicating that Dyche is currently the standalone candidate, given the challenges in appointing Silva, while the early consideration in Mancini is thought to have cooled. Nottingham Forest's Coaching Merry-Go-Round Forest proprietor Evangelos Marinakis dismissed Nuno just three matches into the campaign and succeeded him with Postecoglou. The Australian was unable to win a game and his dismissal - just over a month after his hiring on 9 September - meant his stint at Forest is the shortest permanent managerial reign in Premier League annals. Dyche was on the books of Forest as a junior in the late '80s while Brian Clough was manager, but did not made a first-team appearance. He has not had a managerial job since being let go by Everton in January after nearly two years in command of the Merseyside club. Dyche won 21, lost 31 and drew 23 of his 75 Premier League matches as Everton boss, guiding the team to mid-table positions. Prior to that, Dyche served nearly a decade as Burnley manager between October 2012 and April 2022, twice achieving elevation to the Premier League and helping the Lancashire club secure a place for Europe for the first time since 1967. He also had a period in charge of Watford for the 2011-12 season, only to lose his position after a change of the club. Kettering-born Dyche had his entire playing life as a centre-back outside of the Premier League, accumulating over 500 appearances for clubs including Chesterfield, Bristol City, Millwall, Watford and Northampton.
